14/08/2018 Monforte de lemos is a city that is increasingly visited, as it is the central point from which to get to know the rest of the Ribeira Sacra and to receive very important monumental resources. Monforte in the distance is easily recognizable by the profile that gives the mount of San Vicente with its castle on the summit. The Torre del Homenaje with more than 30 meters hig and the Benedictine Convent are signs of the city´s identity.
In this place celebrates this Wednesday 15th the Day of the Patron Saint of the city, the Virgin of Montserrat with misa and ofrenda floral to the Patron Saint from the 11:00 a.m., in this day that is festive day.
Another of the main stages of the festivities is the Campo de la Compañía where every night there is a free concert with first class artists. The company is chaired by the Colegio Nuestra Señora de la Antigua, the school of the Escolapios, nicknamed the Galician Escorial.
The building of the sixteenth century stands out for its presence, inside it the church with an altarpiece by Francisco de Moure, the monumental staircase in three sections without a central support point and the art gallery with works by El Greco and Andrea del Sarto.
