From July 5th to 7th, Monforte hosts the Ribeira Sacra Wine Festival

6/27/2019 Monforte hosts a new edition of the Ribeira Sacra Wine Festival in Monforte on the Paseo del Malecón on July 5th, 6th and 7th. A different proposal with a wide program of activities around wine, authentic protagonist of the Festival as a vehicle capable of uniting history, tradition, culture and landscape.

In this edition of the Festival will be the following wineries: Algueira, Peza do Rei, Ponte da Boga, Abadia da Cova, Alma das Donas, Lucenza, Atrium Vitis, Rectoral de Amandi, Petrón, Don Bernardino, Adega Vella, Condado de Sequeiras , Instinto Romano, Pilares de Belesar, Rectoral de Gundivós, Guímaro, Viña Vella, Tolo do Xisto, Malcavada, Tear, Coronin, Ciudáseis, Regina Viarum, Finca Míllara and Vía Romana.

On the first day of the Festival 3 Wineroutes will be held, appointments that combine visits to wineries with visits to Romanesque monasteries, viewpoints over the Sil Canyon and the Miño River, fluvial routes, handicrafts and, of course, emblematic monuments of the city of Monforte de Lemos as well as the history, legends and traditions of the Ribeira Sacra.

One of the Wineroutes on Friday 5th is the river Miño "River and Stone", leaving Monforte at 9.30 to visit San Paio de Diomondi church, Belesar elbows, navigate the Miño and know the Winery Pilares de Belesar. Also at 9.30 am, the Wineroute of Monforte de Lemos will begin, starting at the monumental site of San Vicente de O Pino, touring the city within the walls, visiting the Wine Center of Ribeira Sacra where a commented tasting will be held, manor houses of Monforte will be visited , the Old Bridge and the School of Our Lady of Antigua, to end with a traditional boat ride on the River Cabe.

On Friday afternoon will take place the Wineroute of the River Sil "Wine and Tradition", leaving Monforte at 4.30 pm to know the traditional pottery of Gundivós and visit to the wineries Ponte da Boga and Adega Vella with commented tasting and visit to the vineyards, ending the route at the Mirador of Soutochao. All the Wineroutes have the exit from the Parque de los Condes. On July 5 at 6:00 p.m. will be the opening of the stands, for half an hour after celebrating the opening of the Festival. On this day Nova Galega de Danza will perform at the Plaza de España, at 23.00, and at 00.30 it will be the "Habelas Hainas" concert.

On Saturday, July 6th, at 11:30 a.m will be the opening of the stands. From 12.00 a.m. to 14:00 p.m. a children's workshop of Traditional Olería will be developed; the children will also be protagonists of the "Descórchate" workshop that will take place at 6 pm and the storytelling at 7 pm with Anxo Moure. On this day the concert of the Plaza de España will be performed by TheTeta 's Van, at 23.30h.

On Saturday there will be 2 new Wineroutes, at the River Miño "Walking between Vineyards", which will depart at 9.30 from the Parque de los Condes, destination to the Cabo do Mundo with a visit to the Abadia da Cova winery with commented tasting; followed by a visit to Pazo de Arxeriz and the Romanesque church of San Miguel de Eiré, to finish at the Casa Moreiras winery and return to Paseo del Malecón. The Wineroute of the River Sil "Felling Ribeira Sacra" will leave at 4.30 pm to Adega Algueira, a mirador over the River Sil will be visited and then navigate through the Sil Canyon and return to Monforte.

On Sunday, the last day of the Festival, the schedule will be from 11.30 to 14.00, with two children's workshops, storytelling at 12.00 and the sensorial workshop, "Senses of the Ribeira Sacra", at 1:00 pm.

During the three days of the Festival, there will also be gastronomy stands with products from the region and craft stands. From the City Council calls for the participation of residents and visitors to enjoy these days of activities designed for all audiences.
