March 12th, 2026. The Lugo Provincial Council is preparing a new season of river routes through the Ribeira Sacra, maintaining the two existing routes: the Canón do Sil river route, which departs from the Ponte do Sil dock in Monforte de Lemos, and the Cabo do Mundo river route, which departs from Belesar village in O Saviñao and travels along the Miño River. Each route lasts approximately two hours.
The Canón do Sil river route will operate with two crossings, offering a total capacity of 159 passengers: 107 on the Mencía catamaran and 53 on the Canón do Sil monohull.
In March, trips along the Sil Canyon route will begin on Thursday the 19th, with additional departures on the weekends of the 21st and 22nd and the 28th and 29th, at 11:30 AM and 4:00 PM. For Easter Week, the service will run continuously from Monday, March 30th to Sunday, April 5th. During this period, the Mencía catamaran will operate with departures between 11:30 AM and 4:30 PM, while the Canón do Sil monohull will run between 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM. During the rest of April, the Provincial Council's catamarans will sail the Canón do Sil route from Wednesday to Sunday.
In May, the Canón do Sil route will be available from Wednesday to Friday, with departures at 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on the Mencía catamaran. Weekend schedules will be extended, with trips from 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the Mencía and from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the Canón do Sil monohull. For the May Day bank holiday weekend, departures will be at 11:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on the Mencía and at 11:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on the Sil Canyon.
During June, July, August, and September, considered peak season, there will be daily service from Monday to Sunday, both morning and afternoon, with different departure times on both boats. Starting October 1st, the routes will operate from Wednesday to Sunday, with departures at 11:30 AM and 4:30 PM on the Mencía. On weekends, additional trips will be added at 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM on the Canón do Sil. During the October long weekend, both boats will sail on the 12th, while on the 13th only the Mencía will operate on its usual schedule. In November, the service will be limited to weekends, with departures from the Mencía catamaran, and in December it will run from the 1st to the 8th, the final day of the season.
