Monforte increasingly visited

09/11/2019 So far this year, the Municipal Tourist Office of Monforte received more than 11,200 visits. The interest aroused by Monforte, capital of the Ribeira Sacra, increases year by year, consolidating itself as an essential visit for those who come to know the Ribeira Sacra and for those who want to know our tourist and heritage resources, as well as our rich culture and gastronomy.

The increase of visitors in the city is constant throughout the year, finding travelers daily in the area of ​​San Vicente, old city, Escolapios or surroundings of the Cabe river. Also in holiday periods, such as Holy Week, bridges or the months of July and August, the number of tourists increases progressively in recent years.

In this year the Municipal Tourist Office received 2,352 visitors in July and 4,420 visits in August. Madrid, Barcelona, ​​Valencia, Vizcaya and Galicia are the main origins of our visitors. Internationally, the increase in the French visitor stands out, with the arrival of travelers from Belgium, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Portugal, the United States, Brazil or Japan being also habitual. Within Galicia, they approach Monforte, mainly from A Coruña, Lugo and Ourense.

Most of the visitors to the city come to know the Monumental Complex of San Vicente with its Tower of Tribute, which this year has received almost 10,000 visits, the Escolapios, the Jewish quarter or the surroundings of the Old Bridge on the Cabe River. The municipality is also consolidated as a point of reference to get to know Ribeira Sacra from viewpoints such as the Duke and for being the most important service center in this territory.
