01/21/2022 Monforte de Lemos had important representation in Fitur with the participation in the events developed in the stand of the Network of Jewish Quarters of Spain, in that of the Association of Castles and Palaces of Spain and in that of Galicia, in this event to present the new image of the Ribeira Sacra Tourism Consortium.
The city council of Monforte is committed to publicizing and promoting the city's Jewish past as part of the Network of Jewish Quarters, of which it has been a member since 2001. In the Guide to Galician Jewish Quarters, Monforte is the protagonist along with Tui and Ribadavia, the only municipalities that are part of the Network of Jewish Quarters due to their heritage.
Monforte is also part of the Association of Castles and Palaces of Spain, to which it belongs through the Torre del Homenaje. The mayor, José Tomé, highlighted “the potential of the Torre del Homenaje, one of the most unique emblems of the city of Monforte, which stands at the top of the Lemos valley, presiding over the monumental complex of San Vicente de O Pino, and which It is also a privileged viewpoint, and a place of visit for excellence for all those who come to our city”.
In the space dedicated to the province of Lugo in the Galician stand, you could also find all the promotional and tourist material of the city council. In Fitur it was made clear that Monforte and Ribeira Sacra are currently one of the most requested tourist destinations in Galicia, "The declaration of Ribeira Sacra as a Biosphere Reserve represents a new international recognition of the environmental wealth that we have in the province, which has more than 80% of its territory included in a Biosphere Reserve”, pointed out Tomé Roca.
